History

My dad, Leonard, started The Cobbler Shop as a shoe repair shop in 1975. He moved the business to Denmark in 1976 and began the retail sale of shoes. He became a Red Wing dealer in 1979. In 1989, he moved to the current location continuing to do shoe repair and Red Wing sales. In 2004, he quit doing repair work due to health reasons.

I started manufacturing inlet protection, dewatering bags, and many other sewing projects. I was going to name the business ‘Sew What’. Before that business really took shape, I took over The Cobbler Shop in 2008. The Cobbler Shop shoe sales merged with the sewing that I was doing.

Although we no longer do shoe repair work, we still sell Red Wings and Irish Setters. Along with the shoe sales, we also specialize in environmental sewing and have expanded into custom projects.
